The ladies travelled to Watlington on Tuesday 5th August via the diverted route through Pyrton as the main road into Watlington was closed due to major road works. We had a very warm welcome from the Watlington ladies. The triples with Sandra French, Pauline Holmes & Frances Goodyear started off well but were beaten by a very strong opposition. Jan Sargeant, Philippa Feltham & Deirdre Page played another tough team and managed to almost catch up towards the end of the match but lost by just 2 shots. The triple of Wendy Mannix, Jill Brooks & Heather Hallchurch were nip and tuck through to the last 3 ends when they picked up 5 shots and won by 16 - 12. The overall score was Thame 41 - Watlington 54. A very enjoyable game and plenty of sunshine. Well done and thank you Ladies’. Jill Brooks, Captain.
On Saturday 9th August, the weather at Tring was nice but quite windy. Tring were very welcoming and friendly, and we played four triples and shared the rinks two each. Our two winning rinks were rink 5 Philippa Feltham, Heather Hallchurch and Deirdre Page by 20 shots to 12 and rink 2 Trevor Watkins, Bill Slade and Colin French, by 17 shots to 16. Well done to all. The final score was Thame 63 Tring 71. Captain Ken King.
On Sunday 10th August, Thame entertained South Oxford and despite fielding some strong triples we came second best against a very strong team sprinkled with a few real stars. We did have one winning rink, June Greene, David Holland and David White who came alive in the second half and managed an 18 - 14 win. The overall score was 61 to Thame and 101 to South Oxford. As usual, with our matches against South Oxford it was played in very good spirit, and some of the scores did not reflect how close the games were. Roger Blackburn Captain.
