Bowls won't roll in the snow; roll the snow flat and try curling...
There is nothing better than playing a game of bowls and soak up the sun at the same time !
Our Pavilion is no longer a prominent feature in Queens Road
Soon, a new pavilion will replace the old, sporting modern facilities, serving the members and others proudly

Welcome to our website, created to provide an insight into our both friendly and competitive club. Established in 1924 and still flourishing with a male and female membership in excess of 100. You will find our present day management well prepared for 21st century bowling.
The outdoor season starts around mid April and ends mid September. During that time we play some 40 to 50 matches against other clubs usually on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays. In these games bowlers of all abilities are invited to take part. Bowls being a social game it is important to mention most matches are followed by a light meal and if you wish, a soft or alcoholic drink from the well stocked bar.
Most afternoons and evenings in the week there is social bowling, called roll ups, when the game is simply played for fun and is a great time to practice and hopefully improve play.
We also play a number of competitions within the club open to members; all can enter and provide much entertainment most evenings. Members may also enter all the County and National Competitions.
“It’s a young person’s game that old people can play”
Gone are the days when the game was perceived as a game for the old; persons of all ages do play successfully and thoroughly enjoy.
If you are thinking you would like to come into the game you may appreciate to know that we are very liberal with our dress code; the ladies wear a blue cardigan over white, with grey or white skirts or trousers and the men wear club coloured shirts with grey or white trousers for matches and competitions.
Flat soled shoes are a must and second hand bowls can be purchased within the club.
Our playing surface is professionally maintained and is arguably the finest in Oxfordshire. In summer the club is open for play every weekday from 12 noon and from 10am on Saturday and Sunday.
There is a winter short mat bowls programme within the clubhouse open on Wednesday and Friday evenings. This attracts many members to the club for a game and a drink.
Social facilities are excellent; our clubhouse is unique and boasts a good-sized kitchen and a superb L-shaped bar.
Vacancies
We have vacancies for both experienced bowlers and beginners.
If you have not bowled before you will be welcomed as a friend and we have many members who will delight in getting you proficient in a very short time.
