We faced South Oxford away in the annual Norfolk Cup on 9 September. The fixture had been postponed from May after the South requested a delay because eight players were committed to County Fours that evening. They clearly feared we might easily retain the Cup without them.
Arranging a new date proved difficult, as both clubs’ calendars were crowded, hence us having to wait 4 months for the game.
South Oxford won Division 2 this summer and will therefore be promoted to the top division next year. We of course won Division 4, so a tight contest was on the cards.
As events unfolded, South Oxford secured a relatively comfortable victory, so we had to return the trophy to them after we had won it last year.
