On Saturday 17th May, Captain Ken King thanked members who made themselves available for the Hagbourne away trip. To those members who were asked to step down due to Hagbourne cutting the match from 5 to 3 triples the Wednesday prior, many thanks for your understanding. A big thank you to Diane and Roger Mackriell for answering my Saturday am call to replace two sick members. The match result ended in a win for Hagbourne by 2 rinks to 1, our winning rink was Tony Battaglia, Dave Holland and Dave White by 21 shots to 7, and the overall result was Hagbourne 47 Thame46.
On Sunday 18th May, Captain Roger Blackburn reported ‘The setting for our match against Henley was as usual glorious, the sun shining, boats sailing past on the Thames, a brass band playing in the adjacent bandstand. After the 1st 10 ends the scores were looking ominous but we fought back in the second half to a respectable defeat with a score of 78-64. We did have one winning rink with a score of 19-15 played by Adrian Wilcox, Norman Hyde and Philippa Feltham’.
On Monday 19th May, Thame ladies had a very good win over Aston Clinton with a score of 43 - 16. Top rink was Jenny Reed, Jan Sargeant & Jill Brooks scoring 24 - 6. The second rink of June Greene, Gini Williams & Barbara Waters were struggling a bit at first but came back with an excellent win of 19 - 10. Captain Jill Brooks said ‘Well done to you all. Great weather and the green bowled well’.
