Match Reports

Thame Bowls Club weekly newsletter 15.

On Thursday 4 August, Thame Men’s League team played their final league match of the season and went down 58 shots to 79 against a South Oxford A team who finished top. Thame’s position of 6th meant that they were relegated back to Division 3 scoring 16.5 points after 10 games. It was always going to be a tough season after promotion the previous year but they all learnt much from the experience.

On the same day, Thame Ladies played against South Oxford Ladies in a postponed fixture from 27 June. Thame finished comfortable winners by 76 shots to 51 and the best rink was played by Jan Sargeant, Sharon Heafey and skip Jill Brooks.

On a wonderfully sunny Saturday afternoon, Thame Bowls Club entertained Bicester. The game was played with great humour and a very enjoyable afternoon was had by all, especially members of Thame who won the game 88 shots to 68. After the introduction of the skips course (which takes place every Wednesday evening from 5.30 pm) Sharon Heafey was promoted to skip and together with Ray Lewin-who had a magnificent game-and Bill Giles, came out as the highest winning rink by 21 shots to 9. Well done every bowler from Thame on a great win.
