Thame Bowls Club weekly newsletter 14

On Wednesday 27th July, Thame’s mixed midweek team played against Didcot, and it was a great afternoon versus a very friendly club. The score was a win to Thame by 73 shots to 60. The winning rink was played by Frances Goodyear, Diane Mackriell and skip, Les Canfield (24 – 10). Captain Jane Kimber said that it was enjoyed by all, with lots of laughs during the game.

Thame Men’s League team had a useful victory on Thursday 28 July with a 73 shots to 66 win over Kidlington. This gave them 4 league points but still left them in last place with just one more game to play. It looks like relegation back to Division 3.

The mixed Saturday team had a hastily rearranged match against Abingdon which turned out to be a very close game; a surprise as they slaughtered us last year. We did have a stronger team this year and put up a great fight with the result in the balance until the last 2 ends. Abingdon got the rub of the green and won by 80 pts to 60 pts.

We did win on 2 rinks and the best was: Norman Hyde, Geoff Roynon and skip Frances Goodyear.

This game continues our progress in friendly club matches and as Bill said after, we will be beating them by 2027!!! A great game, good green and company, well done to all who played.
