Thame Ladies match against Wendover on 11 July was reduced to 15 ends because of the scorching weather and they ran out easy winners by 46 shots to 26. Thame’s highest winning rink was played by Gini Williams, Jill Brooks and skip, Caroline Walker.

The Purser Cup on the day before is subject to a separate report and sadly the Presidents Day scheduled for play on 16 July was postponed because of the serious heat which could have health and safety issues.

The Oxfordshire Men’s League match on Thursday evening, however, took place versus a City and County team that top the table. There was only going to be one winner and C&C comfortably took all six points. Thame’s best rink was skipped by Chris Shannon who only went down by two points. This result moved Thame to last place as the bottom team Bicester pulled off a victory against Kidlington by one point, enough to give them four points to leapfrog Thame.
