Thame’s Oxfordshire Men’s League team suffered another defeat on Thursday when they lost at home to South Oxford by 66 shots to 59. The only rink to win was skipped by Ian Rutherford (16 – 12) and leaves Thame in bottom place at present. The step up to Division 2 has proved difficult but the team is learning and is very hopeful of improving results.

On Saturday 2 July, Thame visited High Wycombe in a quick return, having been beaten by 7 shots at home in mid-June. Captain John Walker reports:

Bucks you stop for tea!!! At halfway Thame were in front by 12 shots, however things changed!!!

With 5 rinks in the club house and Thame 3 shots down, all eyes were on Les Canfield and his team.

Les managed to get the last bowl in to win by 4 shots, resulting in a win for Thame.

Score - Thame 105 High Wycombe 104. Top rink: Ian Griffiths, Geoff Roynon and Bill Giles.

A great game played in good spirits with both Presidents playing. If they were all like this, I wouldn’t have any hair. Thank you to all the team. JW
