PURSER CUP 2025
This year’s Purser cup saw 18 entrants who were split into 6 teams of 3. 3 teams in league 1 and 3 teams in league 2, each team played 2 games within their league, and the top scoring teams from each then playing in the final of 7 ends.
The 2pm start was delayed by a summer downpour which lasted ½ hour, but this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the players. As the games went on it became very competitive with some excellent bowling and tight heads.
The finalist were league 1 winners Roger Blackburn, Jamie Challoner & Natasha Challoner, and league 2 winners David Hickman, Marion Keal, & John Wilkinson, (I think it was John Wilkinson under that hat in the pictures). Dave and his team ran out winners 12-1 but the game was substantially closer than the scoreline suggests.
A big thanks to Philippa for helping with sorting the teams, organising the teas and all the things that make the day go smoothly, my lovely assistant behind the bar (Phil) and to Jamie stepping in to make up the numbers after a late withdrawal. Jamie thought he was going to have a quiet afternoon on the sofa watching the Formula 1 from Silverstone, sorry matey.
Hope you all had a nice afternoon.
Rgds,
Adrian Wilcox
Competitions Secretary.
