Whitsun Cup report (now ladies pairs match)

We had 18 entries for the Whitsun cup which has now become a ladies pairs competition. This made up 9 playing pairs that were divided into 3 leagues of 3 teams playing 6 ends per game. 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw and none for a loss with total shots for and then shot difference to decide the top team in each league. The highest scoring team from each league then went on to play in a three-team final. The final was played out by Team B Jill Brooks & Denise Manger, Team F Heather Hallchurch & Wendy Mannix & Team I Frances Goodyear & Pauline Homes.

A very competitive final was won by team I Frances & Pauline, as normal a lot of high standards of bowling throughout the afternoon, I also heard a lot of laughter coming from many of the games, which hopefully will make this new fixture one to look forward to in the calendar for the ladies.

The weather held out (no rain) if a little chilly on the day.

Thanks to Jill for ringing round and getting some late replacements to make the numbers even, and to Philippa for helping me with setting up getting the vital cup of tea and cakes sorted for the half time break.

Rgds,

Adrian Wilcox

Competition Secretary.
