This year is Thame’s first participation in the recently introduced Over 60s Mixed Two Fours Tony Allcock National Trophy. Hosting the two regional finals of this competition last year, featuring the victorious teams from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, inspired us to enter this year.
We secured a bye in the first round and were drawn to face our good friends South Oxford who had defeated Carterton in the previous round.
Our teams consisted of Jill Brooks, Caroline Walker and the Davids Slawson and White on rink 2. On rink 5, we had Carol Slawson, Philippa Feltham, Chris Shannon and Ian Rutherford.
It was a great game played in good spirit on Tuesday evening, with the aggregate scores remaining incredibly close throughout. As the final two bowls were yet to be played, it seemed an additional end would be inevitable to determine the winner. Fortunately, Thame’s final bowl clinched the match, and we progress to the next round and we will now have the tough task of playing last year’s Oxfordshire winner, Banbury Central at home on 27th June at 10am.

Saturday's match v High Wycombe was played in fantastic conditions, a far cry from the week before at Bicester. Thame matched the conditions, winning 3 rinks to High Wycombe’s 1 with one rink drawn at 19 shots each. The overall result was Thame 76 shots to High Wycombe 67. The highest winning rink was awarded to John Wilkinson, Trevor Watkins, David Slawson on Rink 5, by 16 shots to 7.
We managed a reserve triple on rink 6 due to some late volunteers on Friday, Dawn Hall, Jan Sargeant, Peter Dawe and Phil Boyle.
Lead Dawn Hall, 2nd Peter Hall, Skip Phil Boyle 12 shots v Lead Marion Keal, 2nd Peter Dawe, Skip Jan Sargeant 20 shots. Thanks to all members for your participation and support. Captain Ken King.

A glorious sunny afternoon for our match against Princes Risborough, the green looked amazing with the opposition praising quality and condition, so many thanks to Chris and his team. It was a good win for Thame winning on four of the five rinks. Three of the games were very close but the other two teams had very good wins, which gave the flattering overall score of 92 to Thame and 54 to Princes Risborough. The best of the high scoring rinks and the top rink of the day was that of Trevor Watkins, Jill Brooks and skip David Slawson.
Thanks to Norman who agreed to do half a game with Dawn Lawley who turned up as one of the reserves in uniform. Captain Roger Blackburn.
