Thame Bowls Club Weekly News Report No 12

On Thursday 4th July, Thame’s Men’s League team took on South Oxford away and went down by 89 shots to 54. They only won on one rink (thus securing 1 league point) and that was played by John Rawson (team captain), Keith Brooks, Chris Shannon and skip Ian Rutherford who won 22 – 13.

On Monday 8th July, the ladies played a game of 2 triples (as Wendover couldn’t field 3 triples) and luckily, we managed to play 18 ends with a short break of about 5 minutes during a shower! A very enjoyable, even match resulting in a draw. Thame’s winning rink, with a score of 21 - 14, consisted of Jan Sargeant, Deirdre Page and skip (and Captain) Jill Brooks, with a shot difference of 7 and Wendover won the other rink also resulting in a 7 shot difference.

The friendly match due to be played on Saturday 6th July away at Maidenhead Town was cancelled because of a waterlogged Green.

The Purser Cup rescheduled for 7th July did not, in the end, take place as there were insufficient players available.
