Match Reports

Thame Bowls Club Weekly News Report No 3

Unfortunately, it was another disappointment for Thame Ladies on 3rd May as their opponents Princes Risborough, cancelled the match as they were unable to field a team. They had already had their game against South Oxford due to be played on Monday 6th May cancelled for a similar reason.

On Sunday 5th May, Captain Colin French, welcomed Sue Markham and members of Watlington to Thame. The green looked amazing, so congrats to Chris and his team. Unfortunately, the bright sunshine of the morning took a turn to cloud over but at least the rain held off. Thame had two winning rinks and one draw but still managed to lose overall by 69 shots to Watlington’s 80. The highest was played by Tony Battaglia, Gini Williams and skip, Colin French. Thanks to Sandra, Philippa, Jan, and June for the teas and clearing away, and to Chris and Ian for bar and raffle, it helps make the afternoon.

On Tuesday 7th May we welcomed Ross and his team from Amersham. The sun was shining, the green amazing, and Captain Colin French, looked forward to the challenge. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out as well as he’d hoped. We only had one winning rink, played by Jan Sargeant, Norman Hyde and skip Ian Rutherford, and lost 71 to Amersham 85. I'm sure we'll get there in the end. Thanks again to Sandra and the ladies for teas and the clearing up, and to Chris and his team for the superb green. Also, to Chris and Ian for the bar and the raffle. It all helped to make for a great afternoon although a disappointing loss.
