There is nothing better than playing a game of bowls and soak up the sun at the same time !
Our Clubhouse is no longer a prominent feature in Queens Road
A new Clubhouse is being built to replace the old one recently demolished.

President Les Canfield hosted the annual President's Day on Saturday July 18th and was rewarded with glorious sunny weather and a turnout of 12 Triples to contest the Trophy.

Assisted by many of his family members, sons and grandchildren, Les put on a wonderfully organised event culminating in a lavish 3 course feast with free wine.

Son Russell was responsible for the playing side of things and all instructions, score-cards etc were professionally produced leading to a very smoothly-run Competition.

Starting and finishing with a "Spider", Les donated £25 to each of the two lucky winners - Derek Goodyear and Maurice Ward.

The actual President's Trophy was competed for in two leagues of 6 teams, and after the initial session of play, the finalists emerged as Doreen Penn's trio with Jenny Lowe and Richard Plested, and making it a family affair, the Triple of skip Graham Penn with Grandson Thomas and Simon Bell.  In a very closely fought final over 8 ends, Doreen's team ran out winners by just a couple of shots.

They were presented with the President's Trophy by Les, and the runners-up received shiny medals.

A really enjoyable and well-organised day was appreciated by everyone who took part, and thanks again to Les and all his family for doing all the work to make is so successful.
